Pioneer Law Associates acted as Nepal counsel to IFC, American Life Insurance Company’s Nepal branch (MetLife), and BII in connection with their subscription to USD 60 million in green bonds to be issued by NMB Bank Limited, Nepal. This transaction marks a significant milestone as the first green bond issuance to be made by an institution in Nepal through private placement and the first instance of foreign investor participation in Nepalese bond issuances.
